Notes

All wagons were fitted with clips, or other devices, to hold a label or ticket that gave details of the current destination of the wagon and sometimes also details of its load. In later years the label was usually 5 in. x 4 in. and printed on Manilla card, either white or buff. Earlier versions appear to have been smaller.

Decals are provided for six different types of clip, A–F, each either empty or with white or buff labels in each of three alignments. Clip type A is the most modern, used as stardard from the 1920's. Clip type B is the same clip mounted on a wooden block, which soon became the standard way of fitting the clip to steel solebars. Clip type C is an early version of type A.

Clip type F is the oldest pattern, commonly used in the early years of the 20th century, before being replaced for new construction by type D.

Clips C–F were often fitted to the wagon body, rather than the solebar, particularly for private owner wagons. With the introduction of types A/B, solebar mounting became the standard, except for some vans, where body mounting allowed easier access from a loading platform.

To use the label and clip decals above, you will need to remove any moulded clip detail on your model. If the clip is a separate component, you may be able to fit it on top of the decal once it has been applied.
